Czupek, Ronald A. 68, formerly of Plainfield, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his home in Indio, CA. He was born February 7, 1945, in Harvey, IL, to Anthony and Eleanor (nee Wojtanowski) Czupek. He married Mary Lou Liss on June 13, 1970. Ronald graduated from Thornton High School in 1963 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1965, receiving a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam in 1966. He started NOR Transportation in 1980 and worked there until he retired in December 2010. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and friends, and the warm weather with his wife in California. An avid golfer, he never uttered a single swear word and always hit every shot perfectly. Ronald was survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; two sons, Tony (Jen) Czupek and Brian Czupek; a daughter, Jennifer Czupek; future son-in-law, Patrick Franchi; grandchildren, Kahley and Jakob Czupek (Tony); twin brother, Ray (Paula) Czupek; sisters, Sally Schrader and Patsy (Hank) Jendraszak. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Geraldine Perry. The visitation will be Thursday, November 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Road in Plainfield, IL. Family and friends will meet Friday, November 15, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home for final prayers and viewing and will then process to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL for an 11:30 a.m. committal service with military honors.
