Ercle Howell Obituary
Ercle Ray Howell III, 73, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Bolingbrook, Illinois, after a brief illness. Born March 7, 1952, in Chicago, Ray graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 1970. He later earned degrees from Joliet College and Governors State University, completing his Master's in English in 2001.
Ray's lifelong passion was aviation. He held a private pilot license, certifications as Ground, Flight, and Instrument Instructor. He devoted 28 years to Universal Oil Products in plant operations before retiring.
In retirement, Ray remained active in driver's education, pursued interests in aviation, martial arts, and travel. He valued time with family, former colleagues, and friends at Denny's in Bolingbrook.
Ray is survived by his brother, George Flick Howell (Marli) of Carmel, Indiana, niece, nephews, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. A graveside service will be held in 2026.
