Rick was one of a kind. We first met as freshmen in high school and remained friends ever since. He was caring, funny, witty and never disrespectful or offensive to anyone. I never can remember being in his presence either in person or even on the phone when I didn't exit the meeting without laughing and smiling. Even now as I mourn his loss, I often break out in a laugh thinking of our many adventures together. He always made people around him feel better. My deepest condolences to his wife, MaryAnn, daughter Pam, grand daughters and great grandson, Wyatt. May he rest in peace. God Bless.

Long time ago we strapped on jock-straps and did battle for the EP Mustangs. Just looked at the team photo...and there we were. We were part of the crew that taught EP how to win in football. So memories came flooding back when Leo let us in on Rick's condition. My only regret is I did not pick up on Leo's telling me Rick was down to one kidney and the leftover was failing. Should have gotten in my car and headed north; but was waiting for him to get out of the hospital to say hello-GB in person. One more of life's snafu's for me turned into a bane. So the pix received right before he left the hospital was vintage, deceiving Rick. That impish smile learned from his Irish Don Q never left him. Tossed a heck of a 50th EP Class reunion all from his own hard work, energy and his own money to insure it played out. To come across Rick in life is to never forget him. To have been a friend leaves one imbued with his special character [James Bond, anyone?] in life. Regrets to all his kith & kin Illinois-way; I am sure y'all will miss him...as do so many of us who crossed his path.

I loved working with Rick for over 40 years and he was the kindest person. My deepest sympathy to Marianne,Pam and grandkids. God rest his soul and he is now out of pain and in a better place. He fought this disease with all he had but he was called to a peaceful rest. I am a widow and it is hard but the fmdays do get easier with family and friends. Take care of each other now
