We have all lost a great friend and partner now with the passing of the last member of the super team of Jack and Joyce Gallapo. Jack was a special friend and mentor to many on our job and will never be forgotten by the CFD and Local 2. To Jacks Family; I have never had a more loyal partner than your Uncle Jack. He was a true HERO and Friend to my family and our sincere condolence and prayers for him and you all. If only the stories and joking could be put into a book I'm sure it would be a best seller. But not for kids tho.
RIP Jack-----I miss you already Pal !!!!! Kugie

Dear Jane, Sara, Andy, and the entire Gallapo clan,
I did not have the pleasure of spending a lot time with Jack. I know that he always remembered me even if an entire year had passed and knew my name straight away. The July 4 parties at Mr. Johnson's house were fantastic. I have enjoyed hearing some of his stories over the years. I look forward to hearing more as you keep his memory alive. May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Jack Gallapo was a great inspiration to my life. He was always a gentleman's gentleman and at the same time a man of great courage. As a young student on the Notre Dame Fire Department, he allowed me to ride with him on the busy south side of Chicago when he was a Company Officer. He led me into many a fire and always made sure I got out safely. When I was with 'Uncle Jack' I watched him do things that I didn't know could be done. What a privilege to know such a great human being! God bless you, Chief Gallapo.
