For Yolanda´s Family,
Returning from abroad and I was saddened to learn of Yolanda´s passing.
Requiescat in Pace.
I took courses with in the early seventies while completing my MA.
A wonderful warm teacher who brought literature and poetry to life. She instilled in all of us a love of the theatre and the beauty of the written word. Even fifty years later I still remember some of the anecdotes from her lectures, she will not be soon forgotten.

I knew Yolanda for a number of years while I attended Roosevelt University as a student and where I also worked as a department head. I loved her passion and style. She was very elegant but had a delicious sense of humor. I loved working on productions and also studying under her. Her spirit will remain and her memories will hold fast in all those she touched. God bless you Yolanda. Thanks for being a part of my life.

God bless you, Yolanda and also Bernie who brought Yo such happiness. Can't believe she is gone! What an amazing life and creaive force ... I feel terrible I'd been out of touch - due to living abroad in the U.K. for nearly 10 years. But thought of her and the wonderful theatre program I attended at Roosevelt U. often. She so inspired us! And also mothered us, which was much appreciated, and also pushed us to go beyond our limits. I will never forget her and alwas held her in my mind and heart. She made us into artists!

Condolences to the family of a wonderful woman who touched everyone with whom she came in contact. I knew her at Roosevelt University way back when, and she had a great ability to inspire - especially anything Shakespeare. Grateful to have known her and sorry not to have kept in touch through the years.

Yo,

Thinking of you....

I promise to drag my little girl to an art museum, a show, or some stinking hole-in-the-wall theater...
I promise to cram Shakespeare and Orwell into my kid's head and life,
(Whether she likes it or not).
I promise to teach my little girl to see the love and wonder and beauty that is around her everyday and the goodness in people.
I promise to raise my girl to be independent, intelligent, kind, and amazing, someone who is capable of anything... just like you Yolanda.
I don't know how better to pay you the honor you deserve than to share just some of those things you gave to me..

I love you and miss you. I am sorry I did not stay closer

I, also, never knew Yolanda but she must have been a remarkable woman to produce a daughter like Andrea and to receive the accolades others have left here. Your family is in my prayers.

I always knew Yolanda Lyon was special and appreciated her honesty, encouragement and direction. I had the privilege of working with her and being under her direction in theatre related while studying and working at Roosevelt University back in the seventies. A kind and classy lady all around. God bless her beautiful soul and may He comfort her family and circle of friends during this difficult time.

Yo, I would not be where I am today had it not been for your faith in my abilities. You believed in me even before I believed in myself. Your compassion, wit, and fashion sense will forever be a fond memory of mine. May you rest in peace.

Yo, I can't believe you're gone. You were the first to welcome me to RU when I was very young starting out. And even though it has been awhile, you are still missed on the 7th floor. Thank you.

It was my privilege to be one of Yolanda's students back in the 1970's. The world is a bit less full of light and joy with her passing, and many hearts are heavy at the loss of this amazing teacher and friend. My deepest condolences to her family.

Yolanda was an inspiration to me. She enabled me to reach far beyond what I thought I was capable of. She had more confidence in me, than I had in myself. Although its been 30 years since I've seen her, she always remained in my heart. I regret not having made contact with her over the years. Thank you Yolanda.

Yolanda, you made such an incredible difference in the lives of all who were priviledged to have known you. Your encouragement of me as a graduate student and your consistent mentoring inspired me to start a theatre company, write a book, and co-star in a feature film! I owe it all to you!

Yolanda saved my life by understanding that I was going through a personal crisis and needed help and got me to get that help with the Roosevelt counselor, Alice Pasca. The course of my life was altered for the better through her caring, her understanding, and her mentoring. Go, Yo, and start that theater department in the sky...and say hello the Will, whose plays you so loved!
