William Torgesen Obituary
William J. Torgesen Jr. (Bill/Torgie) passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023 at age 87. He was born October 4, 1935 in Chicago, IL but was a resident of Wauconda for most of his life.
Bill is survived by his son William J. Torgesen III (Terri Westgate), daughter Cathleen (Paul) Norman, grandchildren Christina, Hayley, William IV, Philip and Joshua, brother John (Dottie) Torgesen and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. and Rose (Schierer) and his sister Janet (Richard) Rohn. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958. He held a foreman position, for 10 years, at Hy-Dynamic Co. (Hough), formerly located in Lake Bluff, IL. He retired from Wauconda Public Works in 1992 after 20 years of service.
Activities Bill enjoyed were dancing, watching old westerns, and hanging with the guys at the local coffee shop. He was a "Jack of all trades" from welding to electrical, carpentry, and concrete work but was just as proficient in the kitchen as he loved to cook and bake. After retirement he spent many years camping, golfing and woodworking.
Respectful to Bill's wishes, the family held private services. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Northern Illinois Funeral Services, Inc 847-833-2928.

sorry to hear about bills passing, have known him for years. spent many weekends having coffee and conversing with him. such a great guy. rip bill! will miss you.

I was blessed to start my day by seeing Bill at Honey Hill coffee shop while walking my yellow lab. Bill always made sure to have a treat for Boomer and a tug on his tail. Boomer went to heaven on 3/17/23. I rescued two more dogs in April, Bonnie and Clyde, who Bill also shared treats with. Clyde wasn't as big of a fan of the tail tugs, but the treats always went over well. I am sure Boomer and Bill are having a great time in heaven. I will miss Bill's smile, his laugh and his warm heart. He was an amazing man.
