William Paschal Obituary

RUFFIN, N.C. - William Philip Paschal, 90, of 9063 Highway 700, Ruffin, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Brian Center in Yanceyville.
Born Aug. 25, 1917, in Brunswick County, Va., he was the son of the late John W. Paschal and the late Emma Cannon Paschal.
He was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, where he was very active in church activities until his health failed. He was also a member of American Legion Memorial Post 325 and was an avid bowler, fisherman and gardener. Most of his life was spent in Danville and Ruffin.
He served on a patrol boat in Guantanamo Bay while in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Until his retirement, he worked as an electrician for Dan River Inc.
He married Mabel Walker Paschal on July 23, 1942.
In addition to his wife, of the residence, he is survived by a sister, Helen Saunders, of Danville.
He was predeceased by a son, William Philip Paschal Jr.; two sisters, Edna Stephens and Vivian Haley; and two brothers, Horace Paschal and Cabel Paschal.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at Hickory Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Eggers officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park with military honors conducted by American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Hickory Grove Methodist Church; at other times they will be at the residence.
