Bill, I've known you for over 30 years. You've always marched to your own drummer. I saw you stitch up your own hand after a losing battle with a chain saw. I've seen the remains of a TV set that you shot and more than one guitar that suffered serious injury at your hand. I watched you cure a reluctant transmission with a pint of acetone. Oh, yes. The drummer you marched to was playing a far different tune then the one the rest of us listened to. We'll truly miss you, buddy. See you down the road.

Growing up and eventually living across the street from Mr. Oppelt was always full of excitement and adventure. I owe my appreciation for motorcycles especially those made by Harley-Davidson, to Bill. Thank you for all the rides when I was a child. Thank you for letting all the forts be built in the yard. Thanks for the the pool and tree fort. Thanks for letting us cut through the yard on our way to Lincoln School. Thanks for being a part of our lives, East Hazel Crest will not be the same without you. Rest in the Lord Mr. Oppelt.
