William Maryanski Obituary

William F. Maryanski, 86, Anderson, passed away October 3, 2007 after a brief illness.

He was born October 21, 1920 in Anderson, the son of Felix and Mary ((Lazuka) Maryanski. He lived in Anderson all of his life. He retired in 1972 from Anderson Police Department after 20 years of service and retired in 1986 from Anderson Community Schools after 14 years of service.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Hump Pilots Association. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945 in Asiatic Theaters in China, Burma and India. He was crew chief on a C-46, with the 4th combat cargo group 14th squadron. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross with 1 oak leaf cluster and Victory Medal WWII.

He enjoyed volunteering in the cafeteria at St. Ambrose School and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Cathy (husband, Tom) Swinford of Anderson and Margaret (husband, Steven) McNamee of Columbus; step son, Glenn A. Lawson of Anderson; six grandchildren, Mary Swinford, Drew Swinford, Luke Swinford, Jacob McNamee, Brian McNamee and Sarah McNamee; two step grandchildren, Christina White and Angie Lawson; and five step great grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Caitlin, Daylyn and Shelby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen C. Maryanski; sisters, Catherine Maryanski and Adeline Maryanski; and brother, Raymond Maryanski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Edward Dhondt officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.
