To the Children of Bill Gutekanst,

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your wonderful father, and unfortunately, I could not attend the services.

I remember many good times growing up across the street from your family: basketball in the driveway, "Goodie Fest" in the summer, The Auburn Avenue Fish Foundation....

Your father was a great family man. He helped shape the neighborhood I grew up in, and I am forever grateful for that.

With love and sympathy,

October 11, 2015

Sheila, It has been a long time, but I recently passed your dad's house and wondered if he was still there! I know your dad meant so much to you! Sorry to hear about his passing, but it sounds like he lived a great long life! My thoughts are with you. ps. I'd love to see you.

Our family has been so very blessed to be the next door neighbors to the Gutekanst family for many, many years at our beloved Lake Noquebay in Northern Wisconsin! We will surely miss you dear Bill. We will miss watching Bill outside checking all the sprinklers, checking all the trees tall and short (and cutting) and making sure the cabin had at least another coat of red paint on it each year - just to mention a few. There are tears as I write this but just make sure we will carry on our traditions at Noquebay on our lily pads and, of course, Betty's swing for a couple cocktails! We miss you Bill and Betty and now you two are together again, as you should be!!!

Love, The George Family (and critters)

Dear Tricia, I just heard of your father's death. A life well lived for sure. I have such wonderful memories of both of your lovely, decent and kind parents having been a frequent guest in their home on Willow. Your father's kindness to my family goes back at least 35 years. I had a cousin who had juvenile diabetes who was unable to find a job as an electrician. One call to your father and Kevin was employed! Bet you didn't know that! Also remember your dad having this wonderful little home office off of the living room. I believe they were called a 'study' back then but I remember thinking how cool it was to have an entire room in your house dedicated to paying bill etc.- my parents had a big, old desk in their bedroom with a Smith-Corona portable typewriter on it. Things surely have changed! And then I remember going to your house in Crivitz. Your dad took us out in the boat and taught me how to water ski. I was so proud of myself when I stood up. - little did I know he was cruising at about 1 mile per hour but he appaulded for me anyway. And of course, who could forget the Daddy-Daughter dances st Regina? Your parents were such good and kind people whose simple belief in family, God and friendship was shared with all of their children in such a loving, humble way. I have no doubt he was a wonderful grandfather as well. Please accept my condolences and prayers on the death of this lovely man. May he rest in peace. Love from, Jean Cunniff Kennelly

I have so many fond memories of the Gutekanst family. One of my favorites is from over 30 years ago when I was engaged to my husband (one of two children). We were up at the house in Wausaukee and my mom said: The Gutekanst are coming for dinner. As Dave tells the story, the front door opened and didn't close for 10 minutes!

I am so sorry we will be out of town this weekend and will not be able to pay our respects. Your parents were some of our favorite people. Always so warm, welcoming and loving.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Mary Joan and Dave
