A fond farewell to a fine friend, man and mentor.
We've raised a few with Bill Gleason-
During and after basketball season-
He'd tell a joke and make a toast-
He was the man, we all called "Coach"!
Thanks, Coach

Bill Gleason was my mentor, a dear friend, beloved and one helluva basketball coach. I'll never forget how Bill and Corky went out of their way for me at Morehead State. He welcomed me into his family. He went out of his way to introduce me to all of his special friends, coaches, maguire u. I enjoyed every minute I spent with Bill and I wish him well. What a guy!

I am Bill's son Marty (#9 of the 16)Thank you for all the kind words about my father. The family was showered with well wishes this past week. Ray Meyer also paid us a visit at the wake. I can't count all of the people that told me how much my father influenced them over the years St. Gregs, St. Bens, DePaul, Loyola etc...
The funeral included 7 priests and about 500 family and friends. Pat Sullivan, Head Coach from St. Francis College in Joliet conducted part of the eulogy from a 'coaches view' with quotes from numerous high school, college and professional coaches. It was definitely the appropriate honor for my dad. Thank you again - Marty Gleason - Irvine CA

Dear family and friends of Bill, Many of us have some really great memories of happy times. My most vivid memory is from a few years ago when my brother, Wally and Bill and his sister Anne Donohue were in Phoenix and met for lunch. Bill and Wally had not seen one another since they were kids playing 16 inch ball at Peirce Playground. We all get to the time in life when we hate to say goodbye. God bless Bill's family and may Bill rest in peace.
