William Davidson Obituary

Davidson, William Bill was lucky. He married Ethel (his life-long best friend, nee Neiditch) who shared his liking for the arts, travel, books, politics, music and plays - - and put up with his sometimes excessive interest in food and wine. Bill and Ethel had three remarkable, caring children who grew up to be their best friends and who in turn married wonderful and wonderfully loving partners - - who together rewarded them with beautiful, talented and clearly exceptional grandchildren. Alicia and Jay Farrell gave them Ryan (Rachel nee Parker), James and Casey. Mark and Gloria (nee Warda) gave them Rebecca and Samantha. And, not to be outdone, Andy and Lisa (nee Trnoska) came along with Alec and Amanda. All in all, Bill with Ethel and their extraordinary family had a great time with much love and caring for each other - - always. It was great fun. A memorial celebration of Bill's remarkable 84 years of life will be held Wednesday, September 9 at 2:00 at the Oak Park Country Club in River Grove, IL. The memorial will be followed by a reception from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Oak Park home of his daughter Alicia. Donations, if any, should go to your favorite charity, music, or arts group.

Although I wasn't with you at the celebration of Bill's life, I was very much there in thought. The years with Bill and his team was an opportunity I would not have missed. Bill was a man whom I both respected and admired. He was a man who cared. About us. About his clients. About good work. About good wine. Most of all, about Ethel and his family. Bill was a good person. He gave much to all of us, and he will indeed be missed.

Puerta Vallarta will be less looked forward to without Bill and Ethel there to hug. Bill, ever the gentle arbiter of issues, will remain in our memory as one who always made our poolside chats and dinner occasions full of pleasure. Love filled his life for family and friends. Stay well, Ethel, we wish you comfort and our love.

Bill was a unique person in our lives. Intelligent, sensitive and caring, it was always a joy to be in his and Ethel's company. His passing leaves a void in our lives that will never be filled.
