William "Waldo" Birchette, 46, of Hopewell, Va., departed from this life on Dec. 14, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital to be at rest with the Lord.
He was born on May 4, 1962. He completed his education at Surry County High School.
He was preceded in death by his father William Ward Lane.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Linda Jones Birchette; his parents, Paul R. Ellis and Georgia M. Ellis, of Surry, Va.; his sisters, Diane Warren (Ronnie), Jacqueline Brackett (Kevin) Sandra and Georgia Birchette all of Surry, Va., Paulette Stringfield(Thomas) of Alexandria, Va., and Marvenus Lane of New York, N.Y.; his brothers, Larry Birchette (Aretha), Jerome Birchette (Sheila), both of Surry, Va., Alvin Ellis (Tomeka) of Washington D.C., Paul C. Ellis(Angela) of Harrisburg, Pa., Kevin and Derrell Lane both of New York, N.Y. He leaves his love to his Godparents, Herbert and Annie Diggs of Smithfield, Va.; his god sisters and brother, Debbie, Annie Marie and Herbert Jr.; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, which include the entire Butts family of Hopewell, Va., and a dear friend Brenda.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Childs, officiating. Interment will be in Mercy Seat Cemetery. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
