William Barbat Obituary

I just now learned of Bill's passing. We were football teammates in high school. And since we were seated alphabetically in most classes, Bill and I were often neighbors. We lost track of each other after graduation, but William Gregory Barbat is not someone you forget. May he rest in eternal peace.

I think of Bill very often.

I miss you, Dad. You flood my thoughts at certain times of the day. Especially when I hear certain songs, like anything I sang when we were out karaoke hopping! Or any Neil Diamond...you know you loved listening to him! Mom, Billy, Kitty and I will make sure your gravesite is taken care of. We had quite a life of ups and downs, but in the end, you were our father and we'll make sure your final resting place appropriately shows your time here in all of our lives. I love you. Debb

After just learning today of Bill's passing, I am deeply stunned and saddened. Bill was my friend. To all his family and friends, I share with you the elation to have been a part of Bill's life and to have known a truly great man.

Bill was one of a disappearing breed: a common sense supervisor and a cop's cop. Our thoughts are with his family.

You will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to your family

My condolences to Bill's family, he has left quite a void behind. He was respected and admired by all who knew him, he had such loyality to his officers.

Kim and family. He was quite a guy. He was one in a million and he will be missed.

Kim, Amber, Marilyn, Debbie, Kitty and Bill - my thoughts and prayers are with you. We share in your loss, Bill will always be in our hearts. It was an honor and privilege to have had him as a friend as well as a boss. Bill was a man who was a supervisor but always a friend - a man who went the full distance for anyone who worked for him - a man who cared about his peers and tried to make their careers better - a man who stood for what was right and never waivered - a man who loved his children and grandchildren more than anything. We laughed and cried, fought and screamed - we had fun and did our job to the best of our abilities making it a joy to go to work because he cared and showed us the way. He will be missed.

My deapest sympathy to you and your family Kitty. You are an angel here on earth by helping your father when he needed you most. He was very lucky to have you and your family in your lives. As you were to have him in your lives. My condolences.

Bill you will always come to mind as Port or Starboard, although not sure which you actually were. You were a good friend and a good policeman.

My sincere condolences to the family,and many friends of Bill. It is a pleasure to have known one of the Good Guys. Now who can forget those old Barbat, and Lyman stories.

Bill always spoke in eloquent pros. His wit and snarky grin as well as his point-of-view on life...particularly the CCSPD... will be missed.

It was great working with Bill we had a great time The good days are gone

We were saddened to hear of Bill's passing, and our condolences to the Barbat family. Bill was a great guy and a fine supervisor that will be remember for many of his endeavors. However, there are many veteran cops, to this day, will cringe when you mention recruit training, riot control training, and Barbat and Lyman. The memories will last forever for me. Bill will be missed, he was one of the good guys, a policeman's policeman.

Bill, a great police man and police officer. It was an honor to serve with him on the CCSPD. My prayers are with him and his family.

I can't remember if you were Port or Starboard but you did say many, many prolific things using only the most eloquent pros. Damned if I could understand a one, though. :) . Love ya and will miss ya, Bill. You are one of the legends and great mentors of the CCSPD.

To Bill's family, my sincere condolences. A finer supervisor and gentleman has not been born yet. It was a honor and privledge to know him and to work for him. He will never be forgotten.
