To the Atkinson Clan, your father was a kind gentleman who I will always remember having a smile on his face and a kind word to say. I don't think I can remember not seeing him at Mass. He had a way of always making you feel warm inside by just a hi or a good morning. I remember growing up and always thinking that he was one of the kindest most patient dads around. And I know that all of you tested him daily. And he passed as a great dad. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Uncle Bill was always such a sweet man. He made me my first fried egg sandwich and growing up with Uncle Jack you can understand why seeing a man cook made such a big impression!! He always called me Dodo and made me feel as loved as an adult as he did when I was a little girl. I miss him already. May he rest in peace.

Grandpa, You will be so dearly missed. When we think of the things that will always remind us of you...I think of Notre Dame Football, your faith,how we use to play in your office when we were kids, and most of all how you loved having family and friends around you. I only wish you could have stayed with us long enough to see me walk down the aisle on February 23rd. It gives me peace to know you will be there in spirit with Grandma, looking over John and I on our wedding day.

We fondly remember Uncle Bill Atkinson as a kind, devout, soft-spoken and hard working gentleman. Our family joins the Atkinsons in mourning his passing, but also in celebrating his long life and personal legacy evidenced by his loving family.

Our deepest sympathies to the Atkinson family: Matthew, Nancy and Jenna Hinsdale (Lockport, IL). Bill was a very patient man as I remember, just like my father "Benny"--all those kids ya know..we'll miss him........

Your dad was one of the nicest guys around. He always had kind words for everyone and was always smiling. My whole family has been talking about what a kind and compassionate man he was. Grandpa, I will miss you very much. Grandpa was such a great person. He will be in my heart. He was the best grandpa anyone could have. Everytime I wear the claddaugh necklace that he gave me that was Grandma's, I will think of him. Love you Grandpa.

I am told that the first words that I spoke were "Uncle Bill". He is my Godfather and was a great support to me many times throughout my life. He was the first to let me steer a car (at about age 12)and walked me down the aisle at my wedding to Pat. His deep Faith has always been an inspiration to me and I am honored to be his Godchild.

We are saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Watching Bill be such a good friend to my parents Ben & Janice on Suffolk taught all us kids by example how to treat our neighbors. Bill was a man who always had a kind word and consideration for others; let's now remember him for all his good works.

Lynn, Bill, Dan, Jerry and Johnny, You should always rest assured your father, my uncle, has left an indullable mark on the world. For me, it was always about the dry delivery of hillarious jokes and about his undying love and pride for his family. Anyway, I can just say, I loved the guy. Our thoughts are with you. Bob, Jenni, Jake, Ryan and Chloe.

Bill was a fine man. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry for the loss.

My deepest condolences to Dot and the Atkinson and Fisher families. As my sister, Mary Ann, said below, the Atkinson’s were indeed “fixtures” in the Hinsdale family. We lived only a few houses away on Bristol and on the next block on Suffolk. I have many good memories. I always liked the sound of Bill’s voice. He always had something kind to say to me. I’m grateful he was part of our lives. May perpetual light shine upon him.

Dad,
There is now a huge void in my life. You had the ability to make each one of your children feel like they were special. You are now in Heaven with Mom, singing Irish songs. I will always think about you and my love for you will be forever.

Dear Mary Lynn, Bill, Danny, Jerry, and John,
I am so sorry to hear of your dad's death. He was such a great guy! Also both your mom and dad were like "fixtures" in my family's and my life. My mom would always tell me how they came to see her in the hospital on their wedding day--which was the day after I was born--since my mom had to miss the wedding due to my arrival. So, you see, I can really say I "knew" them since the day I was born. The Hinsdales and the Atkinsons certainly go "way back." Know you're all in my thoughts and prayers, with love.

Dad was the best man I have ever known. He touched a warm spot in the hearts of those he met. We were lucky to have him as our father, and the grandfather of our 4 kids. He loved Dot very much and spent 5 great years together,
