Warner Dugan Obituary

Warner L. Dugan, age 72, of Greensboro, Pa., died at 10:32 P. M. on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. He was born October 12, 1930 in Greensboro, a son of the late James and Mattie Phillips Dugan. Mr. Dugan was a 1948 graduate of Mapletown High School and received a bachelors degree in accounting from Waynesburg College. He resided in the Greensboro area all of his life where he was a Eucharistic Minister at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U. S. Air Force with the 5th Communications Group. On January 1, 1989, he retired as a production engineer from the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine after 39 years of service with the Company. During his employment at the Warwick Mine, he also worked as a mine foreman and safety engineer.

Mr. Dugan served as Quartermaster of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6303 of Greensboro and was a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400. At the time of his death, he was serving as a board member with the Greensboro and Monongahela Township Sewerage Authority. In addition, Mr. Dugan was a former Greensboro Borough Councilman and a former member of the Southeastern Greene School Board. He was a Civil War “buff” and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

His wife, Betty Jean Howard Dugan, whom he married on October 15, 1949, survives. Also surviving are a son, Christopher Lee Dugan and his wife, Deborah of Canonsburg, Pa.; three grandchildren, Brian, Mark and Elizabeth Dugan; a brother, Raymond Dugan of Munhall, Pa.; a sister, Agnes Johnson of Carmichaels, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Warner Dugan; three brothers, George R., Glenn and Lester Dugan and a sister, Virginia Murphy.

Friends will be received at the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. from 7 to 9 P. M. on Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. on Monday, where a blessing service will be held at 10:15 A. M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2003, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A. M. at the Holy Family Worship Site of the St. Ignatius of Antioch Parish, Greensboro with the Rev. Lawrence V. Holpp as celebrant. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at Greene County Memorial Park. A parish vigil will be held at 8:30 P. M. on Monday in the funeral home. V. F. W. Post 6303 and 3491 along with Cumberland American Legion Post 400 will according military honors at the mausoleum. Mr. Dugan was a giving and generous man. I remember him graciously taking me along with his family on bowling trips and outings to Idlewild Park. He was kind and always had a pleasant word for me. I will miss him.
