Walter was an legend in the beauty industry. It wasn't a Midwest Show without Walter there. He was in his booth again this year, and most apologetic that he was out of my favorite brush (he even knew the exact number, #9200).

Bleibe nicht am Boden heften,

frisch gewagt und frisch hinaus!

Kopf und Arm mit heitren Kräften,

überall sind sie zu Haus.

Wo wir uns der Sonne freuen,

sind wir jeder Sorge los;

daβ wir uns in ihr zerstreuen,

darum ist die Welt so groβ.

I just wanted to thank everyone that took time to write such nice things about my grandpa. It's been almost 2 weeks since we lost him and I think about him every day and remember his special personality. It's so nice to see how he affected other people lives in different ways just as we did everyone in my family. We was a unique man and I was lucky to have him as my Opa.

my sincere condolences to the Sporn and Weissman family. I have known Walter for as long as fifty or more years.Fern and Walter, Margo and Richard and all our kids were close as neighbors on the south side and as friends. I recall fondly when we had our wonderful little card games at Fern;s home, if Walter was at home he served the snacks with such vigor. He could fix a plate of little that resembled a plate with a look of our great chefs of today. We went to dinner, and after his wonderful wife left us, Walter was so lonely he asked me to join him for dinner at times. I can't locate his sister Margo, hope she finds me...to all the kids, rebbie, Alan and their families I know your dad will be remembered with reverence and love.

Had the great pleasure of meeting up with Walter thru Marsha a few years back when I was assigned on a consulting project on South Side. What a find Walter was. We went to dinner out a few times and he then started telling me about his culanary skills, so we dined at his home many more times. He loved that grille, that I can tell you! He was a wonderful, friendly and kind soul who always had time for a great story about the business he was in and how things were politically, etc. I learned a great deal from Walter and appreciated his/Marshas generouristy even to this day! Watched a few 'Wheels of Fortune' with him as well! Helluva guy and he will be sorely missed I am sure. I am sure he is entertaining and enlightening someone in the afterlife and as active as he was in life up there. All honor to his name.
