Walter Schumann Obituary

Schumann, Walter H. 85 years old of Rochelle, IL, formerly of Wheaton, IL, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in Rochelle Community Hospital. He was born June 21, 1919 in Chicago, IL, son of Adolph and Alvina (Hackert) Schumann. He married Edguerita Garling on September, 9, 1946 in Chicago and she preceded him on December 17, 1994. He was also preceded by 2 brothers, Herbert and Alvin and a sister, Thelma Zearfoss. Walter was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and also was a master baker for Schumann's Bakery in Melrose Park, IL. He was a member of the Rochelle Moose and Legion Post 76 in Wheaton, IL and was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army. Surviving include 2 daughters, Patricia Lichte of Rochelle and Sally (James) Bergen of Byron, IL and a son, Steven (Charlene) Schumann of Palatine, IL; a brother, Adolph (Marge) Schumann of Chicago; 1 sister Charlotte Coe of S.C. and 4 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle, Illinois with Chaplain Judy Williams officiating on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. with military services by VFW Post 3878. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at Unger-Horner on Saturday, December 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. Cremation will follow and burial of cremains will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to the Rochelle Moose Lodge or to the Salvation Army.
