Schmitz, Walter R. "Bud" Age 83, of New Lenox, passed away on Sunday, October 12th, 2014 at The Cottages of New Lenox in New Lenox. Bud is survived by his loving family: children, Karl (Mary) Schmitz, Walter F. (Gina) Schmitz, John (Dawn) Schmitz, Nicole (John) Schabes; siblings, Eugene Schmitz, Earl Schmitz; grandchildren, Chad (Tabitha) Schmitz, Erik (Amy) Schmitz, Jessica Schmitz, Katarina Schmitz, Kyle Schmitz, Miranda Schabes, Nathan Schabes; great-grandchildren, Zoe Schmitz, Keagan Schmitz, Madilynn Schmitz, Anthony Raspanti; and many nieces and newphews. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Schmitz (Callahan). Bud was a Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War. He was a member of the New Lenox VFW and retired from AT&T after 30 years of service. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451. Funeral service, Thursday, October 16th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Chapel Hill Garden South, Oak Lawn.
