Volker Rieser Obituary
Volker J. Rieser, Ph.D., 71, of Cincinnati passed away during a visit to his native Germany on June 1, 2016. He was born on February 22, 1945 in Wildenhain, Germany. Volker is survived by his sister, Gudrun Rieser of Madison, WI and brother, Olaf Rieser of Prescott Valley, AZ and dear friend, Christine Kaczmarek of Berlin, Germany. Dr. Rieser was a retired Cincinnati Public School teacher who taught German at Fairview German School and the Cincinnati Bilingual Academy. He was a lover of classical music, a world traveler, soccer enthusiast and a member of the Wagner Society. Volker was a recipient of a long awaited kidney transplant following his arduous journey with diabetes. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org in Volker's memory. A memorial gathering on Saturday, June 11, 2016 will begin at 4:00 pm with testimonials from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Gwen Mooney Miller Funeral Home, 3464 Central Pkwy, Cincinnati, OH 45223

Dear Volker: What a shock it was to us when we found out about your passing. We tried calling you on, or after the 21st. of June. we had just been to services for another friend that had passed, and both of said that we needed to call you since it had been awhile that we had spoken with you. Dieter dialed your number, and said something strange is going on, your number was disconnected. Dieter proceeded to call your brother Olaf, and it was then that we found out that you had left this beautiful earth. Despite your physical ailments you had always been full of life, and you loved to travel, as well as spending time with your beloved Christina. Dieter, and I both wish that we could have spent more time with you after your return from Germany. Unfortunately we will not be able to do this any longer. You will be dearly missed! Rest in peace dear Volker.
