Vernon Sobieski Obituary

Vernon was a good friend among so many of our class of '56. One of the big thrills of my young life was the day Vernon offered me a chance to take brother Dennis' Indian for a spin down the alley between our houses after a 5-minute tutorial. I survived that adventure and have never forgotten that happy milestone in my life.

I miss those years ... so simple and so innocent ... which we were so lucky to grow up in. At 77, I don't have many left, but if I could go back to those fun times, I would jump at the chance. I know that Vernon is at a better place and waiting for the 65th reunion of the Class of 1956.

My sympathy to Vernon's family. I was looking forward to seeing him and all the other classmates of St.Pius. We were all "family" then. My prayers are with him and his family.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Vernon. He was a good friend during much simpler times. I will always remember Vernon teaching me to ride the Indian.

Vernon & I were classmates through all those years at St. Pius V grammar school. May God lead him home. My prayers are with him and his family.

I am so sorry to hear that "Uncle Vern" passed away.When I was growing up, I always looked up to Uncle Vern and Aunt Marilyn.I always remember them smiling and Uncle Vern telling some kindof joke.Even though our family is not as tight as I would have hoped, please know that you are always thought of dearly.

Dear Sue and Rob,

We are saddened to hear that Vern has passed. We only met once, at Rob's surprise party. He had been recently diagnosed with cancer, but he smiled and told us some jokes and played with your children as if he had no worries. He was loved by all of you so much, and that will never fade. Remember him in a special place in your heart and he will always be with you.

My sincere condolences to Vernon's family. I was a ST Pius classmate of Vernon's. All I can picture is his smile. Although we moved to the suburbs after 6th grade, I have fond memories of ST. Pius, a special place and special time of our lives. Joyce Nale

Was on the Chicago Fire Dept. when Vernon was on it also. He was a nice guy. When we were much younger his brother worked on my car.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences to the entire Sobieski family. I was a classmate of Vernon's for all of our 8 years together at St. Pius Grammar School. He was the only one that I knew from the family, even though we lived only a block from each other, but that was sort of the way it was. He was always a good person and I last saw him at a Class Reunion in 1981. I know that he will be missed.
