As I sit and watch ND/Michigan for the last time, I think often of my hours and hours with Tom not only on my back porch but also at the Tampa Elks. My memories of his stories about his sisters, his family, toots and of course BO....To his family my most heartfelt feelings to quite a character and quite a friend.

My name is Heidi and I am John's other half and I was in Tampa right after Tommy passed and it was the first time for me to meet all his family. I was so overwhelmed by them, their feelings and all the emotions. They all made me so welcome that I felt like family. The friends and everyone who lived nearby who came over were so giving and so sad about Tom-- it trully showed what such a wonderful person he was. He really helped so many people. I am so sad to have not met him in person -- but I know now what it means to lose a very good, caring man.

Tom became a friend of mine 3 years ago. Many folks remember Tom from his football years. I got to know Tom when he was remodeling our home in Tampa. Tom was an amazing carpenter. He seemed to have a love of family, Irish music and of course football. He was an easy going guy with a generous heart. Always willing to listen intently and give a hand when in need. I will miss the many conversations. Prayers to Tom's family.

We knew Tom the last 2 years. He was a gentle man. He loved music (Irish) and of course football. I got to know Tom when he was remodeling my home in Tampa. Tom was an amazing carpenter. He was a great listner. He was always ready to give a hand. I will truly miss our many conversations. I never met his family but Tom spoke of them often. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. I loved Tommy! We got to wrestle one year together at Rice, when he was a senior and I a junior! that was enough! He was a winner! I was a blind kid trying to get accepted; he accepted me, and more! Thanks, Tommy!

tommy, aka uncle tommy always made all 4 of the schumacher kids laugh so hard. You always put a smile on everyones face, from showing us how to play nintendo when we were so little to seeing you get inducted to the Brother Rice Hall of Fame, the memories are priceless. The stories from Michigan get better every time I hear them. You will be missed...i won't forget that laugh of yours. Love ya tommy-Katie Schumacher-Cawley
