Sad to learn of Tom's passing. Sending deepest condolences from the Pfaffinger family. We met Tom after we immigrated from Germany in 1969. I remember Tom visiting Germany when we went back home in 1974. It was a great time. Rest in peace.

So very sorry and shocked to hear of his passing. Tom was incredible and very empathetic to the families he helped during the most difficult times in their life. He waked many of my loved ones and the care and respect he showed them even in their deceased state no one could compare. So very sorry for the family's loss and the Bridgeport community. Tom will be remembered, missed and cherished by many.

Just today I learned of Tom's passing. In the past, I had called him to talk about neighborhood history and I was ready for my next lesson; one that is not to be.

What a wonderful man Tom was. He was so generous with his time. Several years ago, he spent at least an hour on the phone with me helping me understand the times and lives of my grandparents and others: Everett "Doc" Sprinkle, Nellie Cassidy, Josephine Bukuaski, and so many others. He had such amazing recall of many people, places, and events. With Tom's passing, another part of the anchoring institutional memory of the area has passed, too. To those who loved him so, please accept my sincere condolences. And, may you find great peace in your faith.

With deepest sympathy,

Vincent King

I was so sorry to read about Tom. I am Vincent King, son of the late Harold J and Emily King. My aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Bud Cassidy were very close friends with your mother. I was born in Bridgeport on 37th street and remember fondly playing in the upstairs apartment above the funeral home when I was very young. The last time I met Tom it was up near Michiana where he had another parlor at one time and where Peggy and my aunt had their "summer"homes. He was a great guy, I only wished we spent more time together. Again, much thoughts and prayers to your family. Vincent King

Dear Jay, Matt and family,
I am so very sorry to hear about your father's passing. I met your Dad in 1975. We worked together at the Chicago Board of Trade. We had a lot of fun times! He introduced me to Rush Street. He knew all the best restaurants and clubs. He was a great guy, intelligent, funny, generous, and he was always a gentleman. He loved to be dressed in a suit and tie. I have many fond memories of those days. I'm regret that we lost touch with one another the last several years. It's been nice knowing my pal, Tommy. May he rest in peace.

Friends ,Americans ,Countrymen . On Wednesday we came to bury Caesar but, also did we praise him. We will no longer fear the garish night for now you are a star. Goodnight sweet prince parting is such sweet sorrow but fare thee well till it be morrow .you did not deny but you upheld your fathers name with pride . Without Raphier or sword you died the death of a Chieftain at the Boyne. From now on we will be saying Romeo , Romeo wherefore art thou Bridgeport Romeo . There are five points in heaven go to the section with the green fields - St . Patrick , St.Bridget and St. Brendan will be there and they will show you the ropes . No need to look for Christ for he has always been in your mind and in your heart . A Friend Forever. .

One time, one of Tom's families planning the funeral for their young daughter had an odd request -- a pink casket. Tom cleverly put pink gels in the overhead lighting to accommodate the grieving family's request. A white casket, turned pink. Another life celebrated! I'll never forget it. To my wonderful sister, Gretchen, and my nephews, Matt and Jay - my heart shares this moment with you from afar.

I was Speechless When I Heard of Thomas passing. He is the same age I am and have known him since the 1960's. This is devastating. I hope some peace can come to the Family. My Folks are from the same area and new his parents. Last Name Wallace

Many years ago, Tom told me that I often sing the things that many can't even say. So, here's to You, Tom, as part of an Irish Blessing: "May the Joy of Friendships be remembered; May the Saints sing loudly of your deeds. And until We meet again, may God hold Tommy in the palm of His hand!"
