Thomas Madison Obituary

Madison, Thomas 77, of Chicago, passed away from throat cancer November 2, 2012 in the comfort of his home. His parents, Irene and Franklin, preceded him in death. Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine Soloway; her daughters, Faith (Carol Rosenthal) and Jill Soloway (Bruce Gilbert), and their children, Betsy (Faith), Isaac and Felix (Jill). He will be remembered by his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Norma Shapiro; relatives, Renee Elkin and Neil Shapiro; and his Independence Park neighbors, especially Holly and John Van Essen. Tom was a wonderful athlete and 40 year member of the Lakeview YMCA. An avid golfer, he'd likely remind buddies Tiger, Marshall, Barry, Ron, Randy, and Bill to "hit 'em straight." Contributions in his memory can be made to the Lakeview YMCA, to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, or to Horizon Hospice. A memorial service is being planned.

Elaine.... this will not be easy, and when people tell you time heals all wounds, they are being kind. But is doesn't. It will get easier, but he will always be with you, every moment of every day and night. You are simply in two different places, for now.
