Thomas Kaluza Obituary

Thomas A. Kaluza
Evansville, IN
Thomas A. Kaluza, 82, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2015. Tom was born on June 28, 1932 in Suchcice, Poland, the son of the late Mikolaj and Kazimiera (nee Grabowska) Kaluza.
As his whole life was testimony there is nothing he wouldn't do or distance he wouldn't travel to be with his family. On his way Sunday to meet his first great grandchild, his journey would come full circle to instead be reunited with his beloved wife, brother and parents, where he is undoubtedly celebrating in heaven. His example to family devotion will be our unending goal. We will miss you terribly and ask you to help us through this unbearable time. Rest in peace Tata.
Beloved husband of the late Jadwiga (nee Bucinski) Kaluza who passed away in 1973; loving father of Margerita (Phillip) Romanello of Lake Zurich, IL, Matthew (Penny) Kaluza of Newburgh, IN and Nicolette (Thomas) Sulek of Lawrenceville, GA; cherished Dziadzia of Justin, Alison (Richard) Kuebler, Peter and Lucas Romanello, Aaron and Jordan Kaluza, Jeremy, Cody, Henry and Clara Sulek; great-grandfather of Abigail Kuebler; brother of the late Andrzej Kaluza.
The funeral Mass for Mr. Thomas A. Kaluza will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 at St. Hyacinth Basilica, 3636 W. Wolfram Street, Chicago, IL. Interment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles. The visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, May 21st, 2015 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Nyki & Family, Margerita & Family, & Matt & Family,

We are sooo sorry for the loss of your Father. Our thoughts & prayers go out to you at this very sad time. Your Father was a great man. He always had a story to tell & we enjoyed hearing them. He was a great conversationalist. His family meant everything to him & it just amazed us of the traveling & miles he would do just to be with you. We always looked forward to seeing him at family gatherings. He will be missed. Love to all of you,

Greg & Dawn

I was going through the obituaries this morning and saw where Mr. Kaluza was born in Poland. My father, Roman Filipczak was also born in Poland in Sanok on the San River in southeastern Poland. He and his younger sister, my aunt, came to St. Paul, Minnesota with their parents, my
Dziadzia and Babcia around 1913. It brought a tear to my eye when I saw where he was called "Tata" as was my father and "Dziadzia" by my children. We always spoke Polish at home at his insistence. We celebrated all of the customs at Christmas and Easter and in between. These are cherished memories as I am sure you have of Dziadzia Kaluza. May he rest in peace.
