Louann, I remember your beautiful dancing in the opera "Louise" at Northwestern in 1952. I had the pleasure of singing the title role. My maiden name was Singer. I did a lot of singing over the years, as well as a lot of teaching, including 8 years at Long Island University in Brooklyn in the 1980's, before my husband and I retired to Vermont.
I knew Ted slightly; I believe we dated a few times. A brilliant man!
I share with you the sadness of loss, as well as the joy of having had a loving husband, as I did. I grew up in Glenview, and attended OLPH parish and school. Fond memories. Father Dussman, the pastor when I was a child, also officiated at my wedding in 1957, to Russ Williams.

Dear Louann, Ann, Jean and David,

I am very sorry to hear of Ted's passing. When I read your wonderful mailing it brought back such great memories of the Dutch extended famiy get togethers. Backyards saw so much fun, food and laughter. The Buzzard's still get together every Thanksgiving at my home and celebrate life. That's how I remember your get-togethers-always a celebration of life and family. Our prayers are with you now and always. Martha

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Ted. You all are such a big part of my childhood memories, all the holiday parties spent with the dutch "relatives". My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Ted van Zelst. I met him and his lovely wife in the 1990s, once when he got an award from the CFIDS Association of America, for his tremendous service to all of us with this disease. Then I met them at Northwestern, for an engineering event. I am forever grateful for all the help he gave for CFS recognition and research, and pleased to know that the help came from a very impressive engineer.

To Louann and the VanZelst Family,

I was so sad to hear of Ted's passing. He was a remarkable man and my life -- and the lives of so many others in the museum world -- are richer for having known him.

Dearest Louann and family,
I send my deepest sympathy to you all at this time of grief. Ted was such a kind and gentle man and I remember him being a great and patient "skip" when we were just beginning to learn to curl at North Shore.

I was so sad to hear the news that Ted had passed away. Ralph and I so much enjoyed the times we all had together, notably the Indian Markets we spent in Santa Fe. What delicious memories. Ralph also often regaled folks with tales of his Alaskan adventures with Ted.

My heart goes out to you all. I know how hard it is.

With love and understanding,
