Thelma McCoy Obituary

Thelma E. McCoy
born on Dec. 5, 1915 in Hammondsville, Ohio to Issac Newton Culp and Helen Young Culp died April 11, 2011 at the Laurels of Massillon, Massillon, Ohio. Thelma was mother to Jerry K. Kendzora, who died on Sept. 15, 1990; and also infant daughter, Sharon K. Kendzora, deceased Dec. 4, 1943. Thelma is also predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Morgan McCoy; her sister, Sarah (Culp) Van Horn; and brothers, Thomas Culp, Clarence Culp, Robert Culp; and sisters-in-law, Mary (Van Horn) Culp and Lizzie (Simon) Culp.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean (David) Stoll; grandchildren, Andrea Wright, Laurel Weeks, Angela Gray, Kenneth (Kendzora) Fish and Elizabeth (Kendzora, Fish) Mowery. Also surviving are her stepdaughter, Beverly Williams and two step-grandchildren, Jodi and Craig Smith. She had 13 great-grandchildren who also survive her. Before retirement she was employed as a Division Assistant in Obstetrics at Aultman Hospital for 23 years and also was formerly employed in the Inspection Department at Automatic Steel Products, Canton, Ohio for 10 years. While retired, she did some traveling in the U.S. and also loved to read and work crossword puzzles which she did all her life. She was a longtime member of Westbrook Park United Methodist Church, formerly first Evangelical United Brethren. She was also an alumnus of East Canton High School Class of 1933. Her immediate family was her pride and joy! She also enjoyed her special friends, Betty (Robert) Crumrine since childhood, Evelyn (Bob) Pierson, Joan Thomas, Billy Lindower and many fellow members of WPUMC. She was a charter member of the Christian Volunteer S.S. Class, Goodtimers and New Directions and immensely enjoyed the Bible Study Class led by the Pastor at WPUMC.
There will be a private family viewing and interment at Northlawn Cemetery on Friday, April 15. A public memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at Westbrook Park United Methodist Church (12th St. NW Canton, Ohio). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the church.

To the McCoy Family, We will miss your Mom at the Bible study class at the Laurels.She was a joy to get to know. I look forward to the time when no resident will say I am sick. May you get comfort in knowing people cared.
