My mother was an amazing person. She had a way about her that made anyone feel comfortable and special in her company. She could make just about anything fun and could make the ordinary special. It is hard to believe that someone with such life is not with us anymore. She had so much energy....more then me for sure. She would get up in the morning and would not stop until night. Cleaning, cooking (amazing homemade meals that she made seem so effortless), gardening, entertaining, the list goes on and on and on.....we will miss her forever. She was a wonderful influence on my two girls. She instilled a love of nature in them and shared so many great times with them. I wish she could be here to watch them grow. She is a hero to all of us in the family and I am so grateful to have had her as my mother I only wish she could have been around longer to share my life.

Those of us who worked with Suzanne in the MSICU at Good Shepherd Hospital were very saddened to hear of Suzanne's death. She was a wonderful co-worker...compassionate with our patients and possessed a great sense of humor. She was such an asset to our unit, and when she retired, we were all hoping she would have a well-deserved long retirement. She will be truly missed. We hope you, Suzanne's family, find God's peace in your grief.

My memories of Sue are mostly from the seventies back in Palatine. Jay was dating Dulce and Max and Rich and Jay and I were all on the wrestling team. Sue had seven kids, eight cats, three dogs, and a bird. Lord only knows what other creatures Richard had living in his room! With all the mayhem around her I can not remember her ever raising her voice. She ruled with an iron fist in a velvet glove!
It was always a pleasure to spend time in their home. They were just fun to be around. Don and Sue would just pack up the whole family and go on a picnic, swimming at Zion or fishing at Waukegan. With all the kids they had they still always had room for a few more. There was something special about being around her and her family.
As our families got closer I can remember our dads drinking beer on their back porch. I think Jay joined the Navy because of some of those stories, and the adventure in their voices. Mom and Sue just sat back and listened with that “boys will be boys-even when they are grown up” look they both had both perfected. Both being moms of big families they had a lot in common.
Sue came down to visit my parents last year and it was a pleasure to see her. Being a father of two I had to ask how she managed to survive those years. She just smiled that knowing smile she had and said “it was never dull”.
We will miss her! But that is not new, we have missed her for a long time. We miss all of you we left behind back home. I have lived in Florida longer than I lived in Illinois and I still call it home. That is not geography, that is great friends and wonderful memories.

David Oldenburg, and family.
