Mr. Kerkla was a kind and loving "surrogate" dad to many of us friends of Joannie and Carolyn. He was kind, even-tempered, loving, and the world's BEST COOK. He always had an ear to listen when I was going through one of the saddest times of my life. He will remain in my memory a great parent and a nurturing mentor.
