Sophie Greenburg Obituary
She was predeceased by her loving husband, of 48 years, Harry Greenberg; and her two sisters, Susan Wainer of Los Angeles, Calif. and Dorothy Donofrio of Tampa, Fla. formerly of Highland Falls.
Sophie is survived by her daughter, Adrian Hollander and her husband, Herbert of Great Falls, Va.; three grandchildren, Cheryl Morgan and her husband,, James of Herndon, Va., Judie Fialkowski and her husband, Michael of Highland, and Marc Hollander and his wife, Mary of Pittsboro, N.C.; five great grandchildren, Chesha Manfra and her husband, Fredrick, Alexander Sweberg, Michael Fialkowski, Joshua Fialkowski and Stephen Fialkowski; and two great great grandchildren, Cloe Sofia and Massimo Manfra and several nieces and nephews of California and Highland Falls.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Blauvelt, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sophie's name to the Bialystoker Center of the Aged for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 228 E. Broadway, New York, NY 10002-5601; or Hospice Inc. of the Mid-Hudson Valley, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or to a charity of your choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hellman Memorial Chapels, Spring Valley, NY 10977. For directions please call 845-356-8600.

Adrian and family. I was saddened to learn of Sophie's passing and note that she has been characterized as a Highland Falls institution which certainly is true. Only this past year I inquired of Mayor Donofrio about her and was informed that she was alert and oriented. I recall, many years ago walking down Broadway in Newburgh when Sophie called to me from her parked car for assistance in backing out into very heavy traffic which I was glad to do for her. She will be sadly missed.
