I'm not sure if anyone will ever see this, but this is really for my Grandmomma Shirley... Not a single day goes by where I don't think of her. She was my very best friend. It seemed like every weekend of my childhood was spent at her house, baking, gardening, playing with all my wonderful cousins and just living our best lives, because Shirley Greenslade made what would be any ordinary day for others, magical every single day. She taught me to pray and and trust God, but her actions of unconditional love spoke so much louder than any words she spoke, as she loved without a filter and without judgement. She made me feel special on a level that to this very day I continue to believe I am special and because I was truly deeply loved. I can still hear her voice, her laugh, smell the Red Door perfume she wore, the hairspray that locked every perfect curl in her beautiful hair in place and although I don't chew gum often, I sometimes just have the urge to go by a pack of double mint gum so I can tear a piece in half and chew it, knowing she would get the other half. I could go on and on, but I will stop. I just randomly thought to google her name today and came across this space where I could write.
Grandmom, I love you so deeply and there are not enough words to even begin, but I feel your love around me every day and although tears still fall, they are just proof that something so wonderful once happened and that something is YOU. I have 2 beautiful children who are now so grown up, but they embody every bit of love and kindness you graced this world with. Gracie, my daughter speaks of you all the time. She says she feels she knows your heart and feels you all around her, never having actually met you, she sure is spot on. I hope you are proud of me, and I thank you for the light you were to me and so many others.
Until we meet again, I love you forever and always -Casey

"When we do what we can, God will do what we can't"
We pray every day that God will give you the strength to endure this pain you are feeling. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you and your family to make this difficult time a bit easier to handle.

On Sunday December 10, 2000 the
world suffered the loss of one of
the greatest exponents of Love,
Peace, Kindness, Generosity, and
Concern for others. Her name was
Shirley Greenslade. She was my
grandmother. She would have gladly
taken on all the children in the
world as grandkids and I wish for
the worlds sake that it was
possible. Because my grandmother is
greatly responsible for the person
I am today. For anyone to have
known her was a blessing from God.
Our family was built on my
Grandmother and she was a rock.
Where others would have eroded my
Grandmother remained strong and
kept us all in one piece. She did
it all through love. Unconditional
love. Through all the troubles I
have had and mistakes I have made
her love for me and desire for me
to suceed only grew stronger. I owe
my life to her. Because of her I
know the meaning of unconditional
love and it saddens me to know that
my children will never know her. My
grandmother exsists today in every
life that she touched.
But there will never be another
Shirley Greenslade.
Thank you Grandmom for the times
that we had and the love you gave
me. I will always remember you and
I promise to share all that you
gave me. I know you will be waiting
for me when my time comes. Until
that time I know that God will make
you the happiest possible just like
you did for me. I Love You So Much
Grandmom.~~Your Grandson

God's Garden Must Be Beautiful
"God looked around the garden,
and found an empty space.
He looked down upon the earth,
and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
for he only takes the best.
He knew that you were weary,
and he you were in pain.
He knew that you would never,
be well on earth again.
He saw the roads were getting rough,
and the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered peace be thine."

When your son, Mack married my
sister, you welcomed us all into
your family. And for that, I am
grateful.

There have been very few moments,
in my life, of extreme pride. Today
was one of the top. Today, in one
afternoon, I buried my Mother,
Shirley, and then celebrated her
life. There is no room for sadness
right now because in this one day,
it has been replaced with pride and
thankfulness. On this day, I was
blessed by getting a view of the
many lives that my Mother touched.
My Mother passed along her love to
not only her family, but to
everyone that came into her life,
no matter how brief that time might
have been. After telling my Mother
goodbye at the cemetery today, we
went to her and Dad's house where
many gathered to celebrate her
life. It was such a proud moment
for me. I have never been prouder
to be her daughter. She gave each
and every one of us a piece of her
heart to keep. The love she had to
give was evident throughout her
home, and she wanted to share it
with all that she knew. Mother, you
have left me with tremendous love
and respect for you and all that
you did, and all that you were. I
will carry this pride and love with
me always.
Mother, I love you. I cherish you,
and I cherish all the memories I
keep with me. This past 12 months
have been so extremely special to
me in so many ways. You and I
bonded in ways that a Mother and
daughter never knew existed. I will
never forget the wonderful times we
had. I will never forget all the
long talks we had...all the
laughter and all the tears, I keep
with me always. I adore you, my
sweet Mother. You will live inside
me always. And someday, we will be
together again. Rest now, my
dearest Mother, and know that I
love you always.
Your daugher Dana
