Shirley was our neighbor for more than 30 years and she was a wonderful lady. Her flowers in her yard were 2nd to none and my 3 boys loved her cookies. Shirley will be missed but not forgotten. Andy Smith and Family

A great role model for all the children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful addition to the Bokina family.

Shirley has known me since the day I was born on June 15, 1948. My parents built the house next door to theirs. I grew up calling her Mrs. Hosman. Her daughter Susie is still my friend. Every time they'd visit from Texas I would come to Oak Lawn. Shirley would welcome me as if I was family. All of us would talk for hours. We would reminisce and share stories and eat well at her table. I was there this past spring. Shirley was a wonderful neighbor when I was growing up. My dad died when I was five but there was always room for me to do things at her house. When she sewed Barbie clothes for her girls she'd include me too because my mom couldn't afford to buy me any. She loved flowers in the yard just like my mother and the gardens flourished between the fence. She was a wonderful woman who raised three fine daughters who were devoted to her. Each day she'd have phone calls from Debbie and Susie and she would see Judy. She has grandchildren and great grandchildren who love unconditionally. Shirley Hosman Bokina has lived a full life. Her natural warmth of caring and concern will be missed. Her open hospitality to others is her legacy. Whoever walked through her front door was warmly welcomed and truly felt comfortable in her presence. I know she is at peace with herself and with her life and with God. Rest now Shirley. You were the best neighbor that my family could have had. I'm glad that I have shared 67 years knowing you and your daughters. I was blessed. I send my heartfelt sympathy to Susie, Debbie, and Judy and their families as they prepare to say their final good bye to a woman they loved all their lives and whom they called "mom."
