Shelley, I know that you are in a much better place looking down on all of us. I'm sorry that my opportunities to share time with you were few and brief. You had many people who loved you and I hope you are looking down and watching over each of them. I'm sorry that I have not had the opportunity to watch over Dara as I promised, but I know that she is strong and wonderful and loved you very much. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. :)

I last spoke with Shelley about a month ago. As usual, we would start with jokes and talk about anything from history to cooking. I miss that banter. And moreover, I miss her! It's rare that you can find anyone that had such a myriad of interests! She and I were never much for small talk. But if you brought on a topic that was worth talking about, move over Beethoven! This lady could exchange barbs! I miss you Shelley! I miss our talks! I miss your laugh! I miss your zany sense of humour! Rest in peace! I'll rub Buddha's tummy for ya!

My sincerest condolences to the family. I remember growing up with Alana and the many conversations I had with her mother about life, love, music, pretty much all the important stuff...time flies in this life but Shelley will be missed and remembered with love.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Shelley, but knew her Dad (Maurie) and Mom (Ruth) very well. I send to her family and friends my condolences and pray that she is at peace. I am Loretta Grzetich (Leonard Smith's sister). My husband George (Sonny) and his parents before him owned the restaurant in South Chicago a few blocks from the jewelry store on 91st Street....where the Illinois Central Train stopped. I saw Joel at my brother Leonard's funeral. I am sorry for your loss.

Well where do I begin about my mother. She was my best friend and we were literally twins in spirit and attitude and personality. She was my partner in crime often and a nagging annoyance at others. But, I would give anything to talk to her as I remembered her. She was raunchy and spunky and a crazy . I loved her more than ANYONE OR ANYTHING in this entire world and her loss has hit me like a ton of bricks at all the wrong times. I am so bummed out and wish I could just talk to her and laugh with her and hear her sing one more time. She was my everything and we were attached. She lives inside me and I hope she is in a better place and glowing her light down on me and sending me all of her good vibes.

Mommy you are my whole world and my life is with you and please watch over me and keep me in your warm arms with your warm touch and I will see you on the other side and we will sing heart songs together once again. Dara Brooke

This is so hard to write. Having had the honor of being her husband is beyond compare. She was amazingly beautiful, had the voice of an angel, was extremely artistic, was intelligent, passionate and so much more. Everyone that met her fell in love with her. There never was and never will be anyone like her. She touched my life in ways I will never forget. I live the rest of my life in her name and in her honor. The pain is incredible now, but her memories will sustain me forever. I love you my sweet baby and prayer that you find peace until we together again in eternity.

Shelley was my mother. But, I called her Mommy until I was 12 years old. She was different than anyone I have ever known, and I'm sure she will be different than anyone I ever will know. When I was little I used to look at her and hope that one day I could be as pretty as her. She was so brave in her final days, and I believe that her deep spirituality helped her through her darkest hours. Her soulmate and husband Kevin stayed by her side and loved her in the purest truest way all the way up until the end. I love you Mom! I hope your journey is safe, and that you get to see Ron and Larry and your real parents. I miss you so much, but I know that one day I'll see you again. By the way, those who really know her and love her know that she was born Jewish, but she found her spiritual home in Buddhism. Love you MOMMY

Shelley was always very sweet to me, she and her daughter Alana tought me it was okay to love me for me and I will never forget her. She was a free spirit to the end and will be missed by anyone whose life she touched. I love you Shelley, I know you're up there making cinnamon rolls for papa Morrie! (she knows what I mean) I love you
