Dear Mary, Ted, T.J., and Katie,
Each time I drive past your home, I say a little prayer for each of you. I remember your smiley Sarah playing out in front and waving to me when I drove by when she was a child. She was always polite and well-mannered. I hope that you, too, can keep those wonderful memories of her childhood foremost in your mind. That's what your heavenly angel would want. May God be with you and give you all that you need at this time. Our love, friendship, and prayers, Your neighbors, Joe and Lee Labriola

My name is Joan Duddleston. My father, Vincent Mikolajczak, was the son of Josephine Osinski and James Vincent Mikolajczak. My dad had an Aunt Anna Szafranski who I remember very vividly from my childhood. My dad could always get her going. When I saw Sarah's name on the news, I then began to pursue family ties. On behalf of the Mikolajczak & Ochwat families, we all are sending our heartfelt sympathies and will keep Sarah and her family in our prayers. God Bless.

I met Sarah at Oak Forest H.S. in 2004 when my daughter, Lisa, was a freshman and Sarah was a sophomore. Sarah became a friend to Lisa in band. They shared many good times in band and as volunteers at Palos Community Hospital. I clearly remember Sarah's smile. May your reliance on the Grace of God sustain you and remain in your hearts as you travel on your road of life. It will not be easy by any means but "with God all things are possible". She is truly an angel to you all. Rest in peace, Sarah, and thank you for being a friend to Lisa.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ted, and the rest of Sarah's family,
There aren't any words to describe the deep sorrow I feel for you on the sudden loss of Sarah. Words can't provide the comfort you need at this time. Although I never met Sarah I remember how proud you were of all of your children. I believe the Virgin Mary held her hand during those last moments so she felt no pain, only the arms of our Lord bringing her to heaven. In the meantime, I will keep Sarah and your family in my prayers and thoughts.

My son, James, graduated from NIU with a degree in Finance this past May with Sarah. He said she was such a smart girl who never had a mean thing to say about anybody. It is hard to believe that such a remarkable young woman who had nothing but promise and hope for the future could be taken away so tragically.
