Sandra Shirkey Obituary
YANCEYVILLE, N.C. - Sandra O'Dell Shirkey, 60, of Florence, S.C., died Sunday, February 20, 2005 in a local Florence, S.C. hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1944, in Caswell County, she was a daughter of Anna Elizabeth Watlington O'Dell and the late Thomas Fletcher O'Dell.
She was married to Thomas James Shirkey.
In addition to her husband, of Florence, S.C. and her mother, of Yanceyville, she is survived by a son, Patrick Shirkey of Cary, N.C. and a sister, Diane O'Dell Murphy of Prospect Hill.
In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Elizabeth Shirkey.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 26 at Prospect United Methodist Church in Yanceyville. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shirkey will be taken to Harrelson Funeral Home, where she will remain until taken to the church for the services.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the National Lupus Foundation of America, 1300 Pickard Drive, Suite 200, Rockville, Md. 20850-4303.
Harrelson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

I was so sorry to hear about Sandra's passing. I know she fought a very long and hard battle. Sandra and Robin will always be in my heart and in my memories. I HAD THE PLEASURE OF KNOWING THE SHIRKEY FAMILY WHILE I WAS EMPLOYED AT DRS PADGETT & ALLEN FOR MANY YEARS. MS. SHIRKEY AND I HAD MANY WONDERFUL AND PLEASANT CONVERSATIONS. SHE ENJOYED SHOPPING ABOUT AS MUCH AS I DO AND WE ALWAYS SHARED WITH EACH OTHER WHERE TO FIND THE BEST BUYS. SHE AND ROBIN BOTH FOUGHT A LONG BATTLE AND IT GIVES ME COMFORT TO KNOW THEY ARE TOGETHER AGAIN. TO THE FAMILY I EXTEND TO YOU SPECIAL PRAYERS AND KNOW THAT HER WARM AND FRIENDLY SMILE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED IN MY HEART.
