Salvy Monastero Obituary

Salvatore, years ago I met you at your restaurant and you were an inspiration to me. May the light of Christ shine upon you and your spirit be with us forever...
thank you my friend.

We were so saddened to hear of Salvy's death...we had been in Provence at that time. We send our sympathy to the entire Monastero family. He will be missed by the many people who knew him from the restaurant and also the many who knew him because of his great love for music. We will miss seeing him when we come up to the restaurant.

I was so saddened to hear about your loss. Salvy is such a big part of my young memories - his enthusiasm, support, and great love of music. Maria, we see in you many wonderful qualities that we are sure were due in part to your dear father-also reflected in your two wonderful sons! Joe - I was usually late when I worked for you over 25 years ago, and I was late in hearing about Gina, and now I'm late in hearing about Salvy; so Salvy was right when he said I was going to be a late person my whole life and I should leave the restaurant business - or at least leave Monastero's! ... I'll see you soon to express my condolences in person.

My deepest sympathies to your entire family on the passing of Salvy. Being a friend of the Fischer's for many years, I had the pleasure of meeting Salvy at some family get-togethers, and was always impressed by his warm smile and sparkling personality. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Salvy was a wonderful man. I have many great memories of going to the restaurant with our family while growing up in Sauganash. Salvy was always there with a warm smile and greeting. My Mom loved Monasteros! We had both my sisters’ weddings there. And as a fitting tribute to Mom we held her funeral lunch at Monasteros. I am sure Salvy and my Mom (Pat Liska) are having a cocktail together in heaven and looking down on all of us.
Salvy was a wonderful man and has left a great legacy! Thank you for many treasured years of great hospitality and food!

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Monastero family. I particularly have Elizabeth and Alicia in my prayers, having been a student of Elizabeth, and a choral colleague of Alicia.

I just heard the sad news. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Elizabeth, Maria & Bruno, Anthony & Vincent during this sad time. Salvi was a wonderful, thoughtful, gracious, generous man. All of heaven must be throwing quite a welcome party for him. Though returning from vacation, I hope to be back for the funeral mass.
