Rutha Sams Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Rutha Sams, 88, passed away on February 9, 2003 at University Hospital. The funeral will be on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Portersville Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Survivors include eight sons, James, Charlie, Robert, Willie and Leroy Sams, all of Augusta, Sammy Sams, New Ellenton, S.C., Sheridan President, Atlanta, and Williford Sams, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Josephine Jones, Augusta, and Betty Williams, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and one sister, Irene Sams, Augusta. Friends may call at the residence or at the Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The remains will lie in state at the church from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
