Ruben Muguia Obituary
Visitation for Ruben D. Munguia, 84, a resident of Schaumburg for 16 years, formerly of the Old Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago, will be held Thursday, June 3 from 2:00-8:00pm at Michaels Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 4 at 10:00am at the funeral home interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Born July 20, 1936 in Jutiapa, Guatemala to Cruz and Braulia (nee de Castaneda), he passed away peacefully May 30, 2021 in Schaumburg surrounded by his loving family. Ruben was a die-hard Cubs fan, an avid guitar player and singer, artist and poet. He loved all animals, especially canaries. He was a dedicated teacher to his high school students, was a strong advocate for education of his students and loved coaching soccer. He was the adoring husband of 53 years to Aura Marina (nee Mendia); loving father of Aura Marina (Chuck) Harvey, Cynthia (Aleksandar) Lazic and Ruben, Jr. (Erica Santa Cruz); fond grandfather of Stefan, Natalya, Bryson, Milena, Karys and Marco; his will be missed by all of his siblings both in the US and in Guatemala; beloved uncle and dear friend to many.
