Roy D. Yates died on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in Woodland. He was 71. Mr. Yates was born on Sept. 27, 1937 in Vernon, Fla., to the late Carter and Della Yates. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, and was part of the U.S. Civil Service for 18 years. He had been a Yolo County resident for 24 years.
Survivors include Mr. Yate's wife of nearly 32 years, Muriel J. Yates; stepson, Robert Shade and wife Sherlei of Weiser, Idaho; brother, Dewey Yates and wife JoAnn of Panama City, Fla.; and grandchildren, Elisabeth, Steven and Wyatt Shade of Weiser, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter and Della; and sister June Brown.
Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, May 4, at the Woodland Cemetery, 800 West St., Woodland. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors of Woodland is assisting the family with arrangements.
