Ripp, Rose Ellen "Elly" age 78, of Northbrook, on June 11, 2005, cherished wife of 57 years and beloved friend of Jerry, devoted mother of Bartley of Tacoma, WA, Edward and Brian (Abbe) of Chicago, dear daughter of the late Florence and Samuel W. Hepps of Pittsburgh, PA. Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and M.A. from Northeastern University. Substitute teacher in North Shore schools. Religious teacher at North Shore Congregation Israel and Congregation Solel. Volunteered at the Field Museum of Natural History in the Pawnee Earth Lodge for 25 years, Glenbrook Hospital for 15 years and many Jewish charities. Leader of many book discussion groups and an avid reader. Service Tuesday, 10 a.m. at Weinstein Funeral Home North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette. Interment Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Memorials may be made to Chicago Planned Parenthood or the Council for Jewish Elderly. Our sympathy to the Ripp family. We were volunteers with Elly for years at Glenbrook Hospital--we so looked forward to seeing her everyweek. She was a wonderful person, we will miss her.

I remember to this very day when Mrs. Ripp was my substitute teacher in my math class back in the late 70's. I remember for two reasons. One, she had the same last name as mine, and a son with the same first name, and two, she was very nice sub. My heartfelt condolence to the Ripp family.
