Dear Lauren: The Wellners were part of our business community on the near South Side for many years. Irving, and Ron and Steve were here when everyone knew everyone, and no one had a finer reputation than Ron Wellner. Ron kept up his connection over the years after Royal Merchantile closed, remaining part of a community as it changed. One could walk through Jeffro Plaza and along Roosevelt Road, and only see familiar faces. It is no longer that way. All of us that remain will miss Ron, and hope that you, your children and grandchildren, Steve and his family will find happier days with fond memories. May Ron rest in eternal peace. My best wishes to you.
