Can't believe it was 10 years yesterday Rocky!! :( But your memory is still as strong today as it ever was. We've lost so many others so close to us since this 10 years have passed and I have comfort in knowing you are there to welcome them home :) give papa a hug and we will see you all again one day. Was putting the decorations on my tree and came across an ornament you had gotten me in 1992. Wow the memories that flooded my mind. I know how you loved Christmas and can't imagine how you must be celebrating it with our creator. All my love Rocky! You are missed!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say,

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above,

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,

And now I am contented...that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

It's hard to believe that its been a year since Rocky left us. I know that while the grief may ease a little the pain of missing him will never go away. Know that you are in my prayers daily and that Rocky is watching after each of you while smiling down from heaven. All my love to you all.

I found this poem and it just reminded me of Rocky and how he loved Christmas so much. Christmas was very different this year without him, but we all felt his presence with us in some special way.

Rocky's journey here on earth is over, and HE IS JUST AWAY but his memories will live on forever. He touched so many lives, and if each of us will take a moment to smile and nod our head, say hello, or flip our hand for a wave, he will live on in our hearts forever. We say that we have 'lost' a loved one, but in our hearts we know he is not lost, we know where he is at. Although we can not see him, talk to him or hear him, he is closer than ever. After all, there ARE angels among us.

Words can't express how much I cared about Rocky. From the first time I met him, on our first day at USAir, to the last time I saw him, he was always the same. He was the greatest guy I have ever known. I know the loss that I feel in my heart and cannot even image the loss that you must feel in yours. There has not been an hour of the day I have not thought and prayed for each of you during this last week. I consider myself very lucky to have had such a great friend such as Rocky. He was a one of a kind. I think about all of the times we spent together and I find comfort in the fact that they are such wonderful memories. He was someone I could always count on. Dennis, I know you not only lost a son but also your best friend. Rocky always looked up to you and had the utmost respect for you. Glenda, Rocky loved you so much. You did a wonderful job raising such an outstanding son. I consider it an honor that Rocky allowed me to be a part of each of your lives. You are both wonderful and I love you very much. Joni, Rocky was always proud of his sister. He was also so proud of Dillon and Cassie. I remember when both were born and he could not wait to show their pictures and brag about them. He loved you and them dearly. Kim, I apologize that I didn't get to know you better. Rocky loved you dearly. I know you didn't have a lot of time together but rejoice in the memories you had with him. I know I will. Rocky, I loved you like a brother and will never forget you. I consider the times we had together as one of the best parts of my life. I know you and Mark are together in heaven looking down on me and one day we will all be together and finish that round of golf. Until then, I will never forget you. Peace be with you my friend.

Rocky, my friend, there will not be a day that goes by that I do not think of you. Years ago, when we first met, I think both of us were going though a time where we both needed a really good friend. God blessed me with more than just a good friend, but someone who has been like a bother to me. I thank God that he honored me by making you a part of my life. There are so many great memories that I have thought of over these last few days -- the beach trips, the nights out on the town, our Weddings (and bachelor parties, you planning mine and me planning yours), the times we spent with our families together. As I sit here in tears wrestling with the question of why it had to end so soon, I take some comfort in knowing one day we will see each other again in heaven. Until then, I will keep your memory alive every day. I love you, buddy.

To Kim, Dennis, Glenda, Joni and family, I know the hurt I feel is only a small part of the pain you are going through. I would do anything to help ease that pain away. Please know that you are all in our prayers, and Rowenna and I are here for you any time, day or night, you need us. We love you!

My deepest heartfelt sympathies are with you. I can remember meeting this skinny kid with the spiked haircut at South Stokes. Me a senior and Rocky a sophmore. I was thinking, "Who is this kid?" He just out of the blue started this conversation in band class sitting right behind me and from that moment on we never stopped talking. For 18 years that conversation never stopped and I will continue to talk to Rocky in my prayers each and every day. My wife is 21 weeks pregnant and we will be having a son in July and I sincerely hope he will be just like Rocky. God Bless.

I was in shock and disbelief when I received word that Rocky had passed away. Our daughter, Amy was in Rocky and Angela's wedding. Even though we had not seen Rocky in quite sometime we still thought of him often. We would ask Darrell and Teri about him often. One year at Christmas we drew names and Rocky drew my name. He knew that I was a Dale Earnhardt fan and for Christmas he gave me a framed poster of Dale. The picture is still hanging in my den.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Kim but my prayers and thoughts go out to you and the entire family. We still considered Rocky a part of our family and I remember that same smile that everyone else has mentioned. May God bless you and comfort you.

Rocky was a wonderful person. He was always smiling and laughing. Able to turn a bad situation into something good in an instance. I never saw him mad. Even when we hauled our motorcycles all the way to the beach and then finally got there and his didnt start. But with Rocky, he didnt miss a beat, he kept right on going just as he would want all of his family and friends to do. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

No words could express the sorrow and loss we feel with the passing of Rocky.He's been a part of our lives for the last 17 yrs. He was always such a sweet and loving person. Wish we could wake up and this nightmare would be just that,but it's not meant to be. God gave us a promise that we would be together again. Rocky settled that several years ago when he accepted him as his savior. I know that doesn't bring much comfort now but Jesus will see you through this. Just put your trust in him. Rocky left us with so many memories to give us comfort. Kim, I'm just so thankful that you and him had the short time you did together. You were the love of his life. He even loved the dogs. Rocky was a part of my life for 11 years and you will be a part of my life forever. Even though we were apart these last several years, a part of him will always remain in me. How blessed we were to have such a wonderful person touch our lives,if even for what seems a brief moment. Rocky was the epitome of what a friend should be. He had an aura about him that attracted others to him. From the time we met his sophomore year, I knew I had a true friend for life. His sincerity, love, and honesty is a tribute to the wonderful family he has left behind. Words cannot express how much I will miss him. Although my heart aches, I am comforted to know that we will meet again. Thanks for being a true friend!! Much love and prayers to you all.

I worked with Rocky at US Airways for many years and all I have are good memories. He was a wonderful, kind, funny man and he will be missed. Peace Rocky!

I am really at a loss for words over the loss of Rocky. All I can really say is you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Rocky was a good friend in school and I'm glad we were fortunate enough to keep our friendship going through the years. He was honestly the nicest guy I knew. I will miss him greatly. I went to high school with Rocky and we were close friends during that time. I am very privileged to have known him. He was such a kind & compassionate person. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time and for the days to come.

I am so sorry to hear about Rocky's accident. We were in the same newhire training class back in 1996 and were on the same sales team for a brief time. I didn't have any contact with Rocky after he left our location, but from what I know of him while he was here-he was a very kind, genuine person. We definitely feel the loss.

My prayers are with everyone. I worked with Rocky at Modern Chevrolet and played softball against him. He was a great and wonderful friend.

Please know that we share your sorrow in the loss of your son. Wherever you saw him, he always made sure that he spoke to you, with a smile on his face. His was a wonderful young man and will live on the hearts of the folks in Walnut Cove for a long time to come.
