Steiner, Robert M. Robert M. Steiner of Chicago, Illinois, age 81, passed away June 12, 2020 after a valiant battle with prostate cancer. Bob is survived by Penelope, his beloved wife of almost 52 years, and devoted children, Nicole and Robert, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lottie Steiner, and late sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Bob Klauber. Bob was the revered uncle of many nieces and nephews. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with BBA and MBA degrees, and served on the Board of the Business School. Bob was a friend and gifted financial advisor to many, and very philanthropic, especially for meaningful cultural, educational and medical organizations, including The Posse Foundation and Urological Research Foundation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Bob was a founder of the original Bratskellar in Chicago and mentor to countless colleagues and inner-city students with their college and professional goals. Due to the COVID-19 situation, funeral services will be private and a memorial service and celebration of Bob's life will be held in the future. Sign Guest Book at legacy.suntimes.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in honor of Bob to The Posse Foundation or the Urological Research Foundation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Me and my Family's deepest condolences to the Steiner Family.

In knowing Rob Jr. I know how special his relationship was with his Father, and not knowing him I only have Rob Jr. as an example. It's clear what a special person Robert was through the friendship and kindness that Rob Jr. has always shown to me and my family. Thank you and sorry for your loss.

Penelope and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Bob was a wonderful person! He was a mentor to me early on in my career in financial services. I will always cherish the memories of our day after Thanksgiving lunches at Manny's Deli! His legacy and memory will live on.

Penelope

I mourn for your loss. Bob and I had minimal contact since our days in Madison. However, I have many
memories. Bob had a strong personality (soft on the inside) and he was talented. He was a good man.
I will miss our friendship.

My condolences to you and the family. Jim Cohen

Dear Penelope and Family:
Robert was a friend and financial mentor for more then 50 years; we spoke often about many things and he was always a source of informed opinion. I along-with many, many others will miss his friendship and counsel . May his passing be a blessing for us all and may his family know no more sorrows.
