We will miss seeing Bob in his Coast Guard Auxiliary attire. He was always at the ready and sets an example to all boaters for his tireless commitment, contribution and willingness to participate. He rarely missed a party with friends at the Diversey Yacht Club and attended every meeting when not in Florida enjoying his retirement. He will be dearly missed on the K-Dock.

Dear Schur Family,
I never knew your father/husband, but my son works at Diversy Harbor and was with him that afternoon. He had a lovely conversation with Bob who asked if he could buy Sean lunch. Sean was touched, but politely declined and continued on with his work, asking if Bob needed any help as he was happy to do so because he knew his arm was limited. Shortly after was when he and another worker discoved Bob in his boat. My son has training in rescue from his time spent in the Marines. He said it all came back to him and worked valiantly to save Bob before the paramedics arrived. Sean has been greatly saddened by the fact he could not save him and will always remember he was the last person Bob spoke to face to face. He will carry your father/husband in his heart forever. People come into your life for a reason. My son was blessed to have had a brief, but meaningful conversation that day. If you would like to know more, you can contact him at the harbor Wed-Sun. His name is Sean and it was his 2nd day on the job. My deepest sympathy is extended to you and your entire family. Sincerely,
Diane English
