Bob's Favorite Basketball Coach
Jeff Reck

Uncle Bobby, as my daughter Casey called him when she was four-years old, hanging onto his arm inside Berghoff's Restaurant, was an inspiration and a delight. Bob was so witty and fun to be around. His love of reading and classical music was profound. He always had a smile and an interesting story. (He had assumed he owned the hind quarters of that racing horse: Father Reck.) Everybody in California always knew his grand-daughters' grades, in every class as they were growing up(usually all A's). Besides a true member of The Greatest Generation, I kept telling him he's raising the bar too high on life expectancy: 95, 96, 97, 98. I couldn't imagine past 80. When Connor was little, we were watching Indiana Jones, and Connor asked: Did Uncle Bob fight in the war against those guys? We can go on and on about Bob. He will be with us forever.

Uncle Bob was truly a great man and an inspiration to all of us. His appreciation of the arts, his positive attitude, and his love of life are something we could all try to emulate. I hope I can get close to living up to the standards set by my namesake.
