Nowak, Robert Asa 91, of Evergreen Park, IL, devoted husband for 66 years to Mary (nee Gregory); beloved father of Linda Nowak Clifford, Mary Ellen Nowak Maxey, the late Cheryl Nowak Meyers, Robert T. Nowak and Thomas G. Nowak; grandfather to David Michael Sherman, Lucas D. Clifford, Elizabeth Nowak-Muniz, Courtney Meyers-Wright, LeAnn Nowak DeFalco, Thomas G. Nowak, Jr., Matthew Meyers, Samantha Nowak, Joseph M. Nowak, Robert A. Nowak and Shane T. Nowak; great-grandfather to Jaycee Sherman, Jason Sherman, Alicia Nowak, Anthony DeFalco, Oscar Wright and Elliot Muniz; uncle to many nieces and nephew. Born February 19, 1923 in Chicago, IL, son of the late John Nowak and Margaret Hitzelberger Nowak. Robert was also brother to the late Virginia Nowak Pustz and half brother to Raymond F. Breault. He passed away at home after a brief fight with cancer Saturday, August 30, 2014. Robert was a proud veteran of WWII serving in the Merchant Marines for 4 years and the U.S. Marine Corps. at the conclusion of the war. After the war Robert and his stepfather, Frank Breault established a cement contracting business, F. Breault and Son in the south suburbs. Later Robert became a teamster and drove for Certified Foods of Hodgins, IL, for 25 years. His true passion was fishing and studying the stock market. The Nowak Family will be receiving friends and family Wednesday, September 3 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A chapel service will be held Thursday, September 4 10:00 a.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 West 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415.
