Matthews, Robert (Bob)

Robert (Bob) Matthews, 78, passed away on October 11, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Bob was born on March 4, 1944 in Chicago to Robert W Matthews, Sr. and Kathleen Johnson. He is survived by his wife Patricia (McKenzie) of 48 years. Loving father of Jennie, Victoria (Christopher) Larson, Veronica (CJ) Pappas, and David. Proud grandpa to Anna, Sophia, Theodore, Athena, and Kellan. Bob is survived by his brother John (Susan Bruney), sister Margaret (Andrew) Galus, brother-in-law Edward Halper and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Kathleen "Kelley" Halper. Bob is a 1961 graduate from St. Benedict High School, Chicago. He continued his education at Roosevelt University graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies in 1976. Bob retired from Canon USA as National Sales Manager, Imaging Systems and later from Homeland Security at Chicago O'Hare. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve during the Vietnam Era. He was a lifetime NRA member who thoroughly enjoyed Opera, reading, old movies and outdoor activities. Visitation on Friday, October 14 th beginning at 9:30a.m. at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 410 North First Avenue, Cary, IL. 60013. Visitation followed by a funeral mass at 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob's name can be made to Parkinson's disease research or JourneyCare Hospice and Palliative Care Center.

Pat, I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. My condolences go to you and Victoria, Veronica and David. On November 6th the mass intention is for Bob at St. Benedicts church at 8:00 a.m. I have a Mass card for this, but I couldn't find your address. Thinking of you -
