Robert L. Hood

Robert L. Hood, 84, formerly of Uniontown, Ohio, passed away June 22, 2009, in Stuart, Florida after a brief illness.

Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Bob grew up in Akron and graduated from Springfield High School. He served in the Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees) during World War II. He worked as a tire builder for Goodyear for over forty years.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Alice, and son, Lee. He is survived by wife, Cornelia of Stuart, Florida; daughter, Denise Claflin of Uniontown, Ohio; son, Bob Hood (Ann) of Lake Kiowa, Texas; grandsons, Brandon and Matt Claflin, Jeff, Brian, and Tim Hood; great-grandsons, Clayton and Tyler Hood; and sisters, Nell Buchanon and Margaret Daniels of Florida.

Arrangements were entrusted to Martin Funeral Home and Crematory of Stuart. Memorial donations may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida, 34997. Friends are invited to share in an open house celebration of Bob's life Thursday, July 23 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at the Uniontown Community Park, 3696 Apollo Street, Uniontown.
