What a sad shock to see the passing of a Priest who had such a

kind influence on our family back in the 1960's at St Gall Parish.

He came to our Parish straight from

the trenches and brought with him

the most wonderful homilies - the church was alway packed when

Father Festle gave a sermon. He sent us

Christmas cards every year to Calif. until perhaps the last 4 years. There are some people who give you a sense of hope by their just being on planet earth, and Father Festle was one of them, and he will be missed.

We also were inspired by Fr. Rob"s sermons when he was assigned to St. Gall"s parish. He was a remarkable priest and we feel fortunate to have shared many lunches and discussions with him and his and our dear friends, the Kerrigans (also St Gall alumni). Fr, Rob will be missed. God bless. Jerry & Betty Croke

Our Family first met Father Festle when he came to St. Theresa's in 1981. What a brilliant mind! It was a privilege to consider him a friend for over twenty years! My heart is heavy for his family but joyful for his spirit. May flights of angels sing him to his rest.

We were all saddened very much when we heard of Fr. Festle's death. For a number of years we enjoyed his sermons at St. John of the Cross parish. I remember fondly visiting with him and Buster at St. Benedict's. My daughter recalls Father speaking to her in both Russian and Elfish. Celebrating his 50th year of ordination was a special moment that we will remember for many years. May Fr. Festle be entertaining all of God's special people in heaven now that he has been welcomed into eternal life. We will miss his smile, his wit and his great compassion for all. May God bless him and his family.

Father Festle was my religion teacher during my Sophmore year at Holy Name Cathedral High School in 1958. He was a dynamic priest and wonderful teacher and I admired him very much. I was very saddened to learn of his passing as I saw him as recently as 2003 while attending Mass at St. John of the Cross Church in Western Springs. My thoughts and prayers are with Father Festle's Family. God bless.

Shortly after Fr. Bob's ordination, I had the pleasure of meeting him at Our Lady Help of Christians. At the time we were blessed with the growth of YCW's program in some 50 Chicago parishes. He blessed us with his interest and enthusiasm, the same as Fr. Bill Gubbins of HNC. He became a special friend.

We are sadden to hear of the death of Father Festle. Over twenty-two years ago, while he was our pastor at St. Theresa Church, he was the first person we talked to about adopting a child. We had no idea what we were doing and he was a great source of guidance and comfort. A year an a half later we were honored to have him baptize our son. Our prayers are with him and his family.
