Our path crossed briefly many years ago.
What a delightful time it was. Literate and engaging. He appreciated the humor of life. I know how he loved his family.
My condolences.

Bob came up to me in the library at LT when it got to be time to start studying for the Comp. He offered to "tutor" me and said, "We would go from Beowulf to Virginia Woolf in 30 days!"

Bob was a baseball mentor to me. He opened my eyes to beauty of Wrigley Field, moved me to see the game with my heart and not just my head, and showed what true commitment to a sport looks like. Honoured to have known him, sat with him at ballparks and to have been able to joke about that they Jays have as many World Series victories as do the Cubs. Long live your memory Bob.

One of the few outstanding Illinois jurists. I argued in front of him only two months ago. An incisive mind and integrity in kind is difficult to find.

We will miss you, Uncle Bob. I am comforted today by memories of watching many Cub games with you when I was a kid. Sally, Kathryn, Beth and Susan, may your fond memories and the gift of his life help ease the sadness of his sudden loss. Love, Margaret
